Those are strong words from anyone, but especially from John McElroy, co-host of Autoline After Hours, a superb video podcast that John and his co-host Gary Vasilash conduct weekly.
Though it seems like John McElroy has been around the Detroit and the global auto scene since the days of Henry Ford’s Model T, that’s really not true. But he has covered the Detroit auto companies for decades and along with the show’s co-host Gary Vasilash, has tremendous knowledge and credibility about the globe’s automotive doings. John knows and is known by every car guy in the industry, and in the course of his journalism duties has driven and road tested about every motor vehicle, domestic or foreign, to come down the pike.
John is not in the habit of endorsing individual brands and cars on his Autoline show – maybe only for special vehicles such as Chevy’s new C-8 Corvette. Thus when he states his admiration for Tesla’s Model 3 sedan, you can take it to the bank that he knows what he is talking about.
If I were Elon, I’d frame McElroy’s quote at Tesla’s headquarters. Ah, but I forget, Tesla doesn’t do any advertising! In any case, John’s spontaneous endorsement will get around the “car guy” community. Thanks John, for your candid enthusiasm about a killer car.
